*REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE*
Thanks to all of your generous donations we reached our goal of raising $6,000 and having one of our most successful Regional Championships in school history. With sophomore Shannon McClish and freshman Paul Colosi qualifying as individuals for the NCAA National Championships and matching 7th place finishes by both the Men and Women in the team results we couldn't be happier with the success our program has seen this season.
The UC Santa Cruz Intercollegiate Cross Country Team competes at the NCAA Division III Level in the Western Region. After many successful trips to the West Regional Championships, the UCSC Cross Country Team is ready to take the next step of becoming one of the dominant programs on the west coast.
Our goal is to raise $6,000 to help support the 2016 Cross Country teams travel expenses to the NCAA III West Regional Championship at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon in hope of earning a trip to the NCAA III National Championship.
The Men and Women of UCSC have been incredibly impressive already this season with both teams earning West Regional Rankings. The NCAA III West Regional Championship serves as a qualifying meet for the NCAA III National Championship. The top two teams in each region, plus a number of at large entries will qualify for the NCAA III National Championship as a team. The top 7 finishers not on a qualifying team will also qualify as individuals.
The Men have been led by an incredible freshman class that continues to improve week by week. The men have rewritten the record books by adding six men to the all-time performance list at UC Santa Cruz. With a consistent group of student-athletes, our Men's program has a great opportunity to have the best season in program history.
Not to be outdone, the Women of UCSC have been on a roll this season. Led by a group of sophomores and juniors the women have posted the highest regional ranking in program history. The women have added five performances to the all-time performance list at UCSC; highlighted by sophomore Shannon McClish at #5. The women are in a similar position as the men, to finish off the best season by a UCSC Cross Country Team.
The $6,000 goal will help to pay for travel and accommodations for out 14 student-athletes (7 Men and 7 Women):
Airline $3,300
Hotel $1,500
Food $1000
Car Rental $200
With your support we can work toward our goal of having the best program finish in school history at the NCAA III West Regional Championship.
